He always has something useful to say, and not just to gamers. Every furry artist who works a convention, for instance, will find sage words in Pitches and Misses.

More interesting stuff can be found in his regular feature, See Page XX.

Same can be said about any public venue, from Cons to Flea Markets. From the Rennie world (which, admittedly, I've done for a while) if you just sit like a lump, you don't get much business. You do best when you're engaging, even charming, and get the person interested in what you're doing.

First thing my staff gets taught is how to talk to a customer, then the rest falls into place.

In the "Is the RPG industry screwed?" article, I liked the final sentence the best:

"If you read that someone you haven't heard of is about to print 3000 copies of a new RPG, by all that's holy, stop them."

This is very true, especially the part about poor table displays and confused people working (or failing to work) the tables... I see this all the time at conventions; table displays that look like a flea market, with the artists' girlfriend / boyfriend / significant other / room-mate stuck behind the table with no clue as to what they're supposed to be selling or when / if the artist is coming back to their table.

And then these people are the first to complain about how lousy their sales figures were...
