Robert Jordan has passed away.

I remember hearing some time ago that his condition was terminal; it's still sad news when it finally happens.

Aha! so that's the author of the series what will now never be completed. I'd heard rumors....

Now I'm all sad and stuff. I was looking forward to seeing the conclusion to that tale. It has my one of my favorite characters ever in it. *sigh*

Being dead doesn't always stop people from publishing these days. He knew this was coming and has likely already selected a ghost writer and has a detailed outline if not a first draft.

yeah, but I'll feel the loss when/if I read it knowing he didn't write all of it. If I hadn't known, I might have been able to fool myself, but the last book just won't be the same to me. -Frisk

Very saddening. I discovered his works only in the last year or so (can't imagine how I would have missed them!) but I've enjoyed them greatly. I spent many a winter night reading until the dawn hours on the Wheel of Time series.

At least he went peacefully and without pain...and what a legacy!

Damn! I knew his publisher should never have let him write the Conan series before he finished Wheel...and now...we're left hanging. So not good.

Kris is going to be majorly bummed, he's been waiting for that last book.

I have too, but only so I could start the series over, since I am now completely lost, so I figured I would wait until RJ finished the series before I reread them. I sure hope it does get finished...it may not be quite the same as if he wrote it, but it would give closure to the story. We'll just have to see.

Sad that he died though, I was so hoping he would finish it first.
