It selects the random wrong thing when you click on anything! You tell it to apply a fill color and it makes the object not only transparent but moves it three layers down! You drag a handle on a single curve and it resizes and distorts four objects that are totally unrelated to anything you're doing and might not even be in the same damn file!

YOU SUCK, ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR!!! ARRGGGHHH!!!

*pant, pant, pant*

Okay, now I got that out of my system at least. Geeze. But at least I've got the beginnings of a system down. Now from here hopefully it's all practice.

Once upon a time... I worked in the student labs here at CMU. And there were installations of both Illustrator and Photoshop. And as far as I could tell, Illustrator was there to make my life incredibly difficult, and Photoshop was there to Get Things Done.

*headshake*

I still can't understand some of the things in Illustrator.

I'd totally go for one, too! Alas for a 3,000-mile commute!

I do have a For Dummies book on the subject, which I'm going to attack this weekend; hopefully that will help.

I have to wonder how much good the book will do when the dummy is the program itself.

I hate Adobe. I wish PSP were still owned by Jasc, and that people viewed it as a viable, "professional" graphics editor.

Same here. I haven't upgrade since they were bought out for fear of what it appears to have become, a photo retouch program.

Indeed. I have a pirate copy of 7. My dad insisted on sending me 9. Fortunately, he goofed and sent me the bonus disks and tutorial, not the software, so I don't have to install it to appease him.

I'm using version 9, the last to escape before the buy out, and it seems to be a good solid piece of software. I'd like to get a look at version 10 but I'm not spending the money to do so. All the ads and info I see on it just makes it look like they totally pushed the photo retouch side of things and did nothing for the art end.

I'll have to see if I can get a legit copy of 9.

For a moment I thought you were talking about Strata3D.

People who don't like Illustrator often enjoy Macromedia Freehand...
