Well, we're working from home again this afternoon, as lythandra is trying to shake off side effects of her new diabetes meds. It's cool and all, but given how much of it we're also planning to do next week, they may start to forget what we look like.

The doc just started me on Byetta. I've been taking Metformin for about 4 years now, and at my last appointment, my A1C jumped from 6.5-6.7 to 8.5. So now it's test more often, inject the Byetta twice a day, and exercise more. If the side effects don't go away in a few days, I'll have to switch to something else, but I want to give the Byetta a fighting chance. If I can stomach it, it's the best option for me.

On the assumption that you're talking about the nausea, a co-worker of mine is taking Byetta and is on an anti-nausea med that she says helps a LOT. I just e-mailed her to ask her what it's called and will post it as soon as she replies.

Edited to add: Got it. it's an over-the-counter med for motion sickness called Bonine. It's available as a generic, too. My colleague says it made a huge difference.

I hope you can stick it out - my colleague says that since she's been taking Byetta she's been slowly but steadily losing weight, her blood sugar is now in the normal range after being consistently in the 150s and up, and her doctor just took her off her cholesterol medication, because she doesn't need it anymore.

I'm going to be stepping off to MY doctor to ask about it.

You might ask about Avandamet. I know it's gotten some bad press, but I've been keeping an eye on the medical journals and the press was sabotage press work. The study was pretty prejudiced.

Anyway, the stuff's been working like gang busters for me. Of course, depends on how your insurance will cover it too.
