Would this be the spaceship Yamato from the anime "Star Blazers" in the 1980's? :) I loved that when I was young, although I had to watch it discretely because my parents weren't enthusiastic about the idea.

I can see the Yamato battling the Comet Empire there. Is this footage merely for a game, or was there a movie made? Those spaceships are amazing looking!

There has been several productions in Japan in the last couple of years, and there is a new REVIVAL movie in production right now, to be released later this year.

Dang! For all of Hollywood's penchant for recycling old, tired, "garbage" TV shows into movies (I.E. Land of the Lost! *ick*), this footage shows that they could do a LOT worse than to remake Space Battleship Yamato (Star Blazers) into a full length movie using the current state of the art CGI.

Hmm.... wait a minute; looks like it might already be in the work. However, this wuff is now less than enthusiastic, seeing the track record of the studio who's fronting it (Benderspink). Article here:
