Awakened at 5:30 a.m. by intense thunder and rain, so now I munch my Quaker Corn Bran (mmm ... roughage!) and listen to tornado warnings on the telly, contemplating the weather.

Luckily, it's Veteran's Day, which means that 3/5 of the area doesn't have to go in to work. Otherwise, commuting would be an exercise in pain.

Anyway, this will be the rain that knocks the leaves off the trees, I can tell.

Y'see, every year, autumn comes along and turns all the leaves different colors, which is nothing unusual, but instead of having a few weeks of leaves cascading down around us, looking all romantical and movie-like, what usually happens is that the leaves change color, and there's a heavy rain that knocks them all off.

The past few years in particular, the heavy rain has come sometime in mid-October, when the leaves are just starting to change, so we go from hot, green and leafy, to a disappointing barren and dead, with nothing in between. With the dry, dry summer we had this year, I expected the same ripoff, but lo and behold, we had a beautiful autumn this year! Four solid weeks of vibrant, beautiful colors, and even a good week of cascades ... followed by today's severe storms, which will be the end of it.

Ah well, autumn had a good run this year. It even got cold early (yay!) [1], so I give it an 8 out of 10. I have to deduct one point for the weather yesterday and today (60s and 70s is too friggin' warm for November), and one point for the tornado warnings.

Anyway, I better get ready for work. My first day as a Web Programmer, don't wanna be late! ;) Catcha later.

[1] I hate hot. I love cold. And it's just getting more pronounced as time goes on. Thermometer reaches 70, I turn on the A/C. My range of "perfect" temperatures seem to be in the 50s, because I want to be able to wear my beloved turtleneck and leather jacket. Maybe I should move further north.

I am not a heat loving creature :P but I live in Florida so I work with what I have. Northeast Florida isn't too bad; we're actually starting to see some color change as it gets colder. Never thought I'd see THAT. I miss the true autumn though and the snow.

Wow! Another Floridian! How cool! :) But I'm down further, in Central FL....

My ideal is probably between 60 and 70, with the mid-to-low-sixties preferred...colder is ok with no wind, and low seventies is ok with a breeze....
