Who hasn't heard "Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer" one more time than is funny anymore? Well, the radio stations around here love their goofy Christmas novelty songs, and I admit, I can enjoy them (I've got two albums full of Alvin and the Chipmunks), but sheesh. The latest one to be foist upon my unwilling mind was this morning's classy hit, "I Farted on Santa's Lap (Now Christmas Is Gonna Stink For Me)."

Somebody remind me again why I listen to the radio?

I heard Weird Al's 12 Pains of Christmas one too many times... In fact, heard most of his songs one too many times. Damn WinAMP and its sucky randomize algorithm. *g*

How about "Rudolph the deep-throat reindeer" or "Frosty the pervert?" Both are easily found online. And though I love a good Filk more than most, these aren't very bright or inventive tunes...

I dunno - I think the reason we hear them too many times is because people are so sick of the the same "traditional" christmas songs (what, four? five?) that get played OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER again.

I happen to love the traditional hymns. It's the one time a year my church is willing to sing some of the "high carols," rather than just gospel music.

Gospel's great, mind you, but I miss the fanfare of some of the other hymns.

Mark Hayes' version of "Gloria" has gotta be my favorite, followed closely by "Hark the Herald Angels Sing" and "Angels We Have Heard on High." Not to forget "Adeste Fideles," "Oh Happy Day." Oh, heck-- I love 'em all!

ROFL

I gave up on public radio about a week ago. They either play nonstop "traditional" carols mauled by whatever band is currently in vogue (or was in vogue for the time period) or they play the novelty songs to the point of offensiveness.

I still like South Park's "Merry F*ckin'Christmas" myself.

... I used to have that as an mp3. >.> Damn funny. *should look for it again*

I gave up on radio in October. That's when they started playing Christmas music around here. *twitch*

you could be me and work in a place where Corporate has declared it mandatory that music be playing and that the only music allowed shall be christmas music. So I have no choice but to listen to several dozen traditional songs sung three or four times a d ay. The damn stuff repeats after a while and if your there all day long like I usually am, you can say what will play next. Gaaaa! -Friskk

Hee!

I think my favorite christmas song has always been
The Royal Guardsmen singing "Snoopy's Christmas" :)

Either that or The Ventures doing "Sleigh Ride"
Imagine Christmas songs crossed with Surf Music, and
you'll get the picture. :)

Now that's just tasteless. Fortunately, they don't stoop so low here. But if I hear "A Redneck Christmas" one more time, I swear, I'm gonna go eco-terrorist on the broadcast towers!

KISS 98.1 is broadcasting all the traditional Christmas Music for the whole season to the exclusion of anything else. Yay!
