Dumb Conan Action Movie is Dumb and Full of Action

Hey, they haven't gotten Conan right yet, why should they start now? Looks like an enjoyable fantasy flick if you don't expect too much. I'd prefer something related to the works of Robert E. Howard, tho.

At least it actually got made, which is more than can be said for Red Nails.

I've got a fly on the wall of a few folks who are talking fairly good things about this film, so I'm gonna withhold judgement until I'm sitting in front of the screen with my gummi bears. Of course, I'm one of those radicals who recently got a look at the first Conan film and was amazed at how surprisingly good it was in it's own way...

I don't watch movies that are connected with stories/books/games/whatever that I like and compare them to the thing they are connected with. Because that's silly. I like big dumb movies. I like big smart movies too, but I am not going to complain about a Conan movie that is less a 'horrible mangling of Conan stories (as anything actually related to the original stories probably would be)' and more 'Some dude also named Conan in a world named Hyboria, kicking a bunch of evil-dude arse'. Because movies like that are awesome. Pretty girls, disgusting monsters, and a dude with a sword, a grin, and a couple useless but handy sidekicks.. I'll watch that.
