Hear hear. First correct the apostrophe usage, then the metric unit misspelling, then the ridiculous word simplifications [light->lite], then the "z for s" replacements [if everyone criticised instead of criticized,...], then the other ridiculous word simplifications [when did a theatre become a theater? A dialogue a dialog? Someone just decide please], then...
Oh, wait, this was only about apostrophes. ^_^

and it is something that has been a massively petted peeve with me for years....folks, apostrophes are used for POSSESSIVES AND CONTRACTIONS!....almost exclusively....not used for 1900's, etc. I have one friend who desperately needs to learn proper usage, but unsure how to do it without pissing her off....I was also lucky to have a very talented teacher in high school who made me learn the baser and somewhat finer points of grammar...(Thank you Mrs. B!)

The Apostrophe catastrophe is my biggest pet peeve (a close second is the people who will back into an available space in a parking lot instead of just simply DRIVING into it like any other NORMAL sentient being).

But, then, I have issues. Well, actually, I don't... I have a subscription with an option to buy.

I *so* totally agree with pretty much everything everyone else that has commented previously has said, with this whole apostrophe thing being number one on my pet peeve list!! Nice to see I'm not the only one to have noticed the growing trend toward apostrophe misuse...I used to only see it once in a while, now I've noticed more people misusing them than not!! Grrrr!
