"You know about those long, narrow wind instruments called 'recorders,' right?" said Greg, putting a fork into the dishwasher.

"Yeah?" said Brigid warily, offering him a dirty plate. The tone of his voice suggested she was going to regret answering him.

He took the plate and transferred it to the dishwasher. "Well, if you tried to order one of those from a service and it didn't take, so you had to order it again, would that be a 'recorder reorder'?"

"Argh," said Brigid, and handed him a glass.

"And if, when it arrived, it was wrapped in ribbed suede, would that be a corduroy recorder?" he asked, shifting a dirty mug to make room for the glass.

"Uh huh," said Brigid, offering him another plate.

"Or if the ribbed suide was just trim on the ends of it, would that be a corduroy-bordered recorder?"

"Greg..." Brigid said, eyebrows looming.

"And if you had to order it twice, would it be a corduroy-bordered recorder reorder?"

In half a second, his collar was clenched in a fist and she'd yanked his face down level with hers. "Shut up before I shoot you," she said matter-of-factly.

(Trivia Note: This Fictionlet is actually a prose version of a bit of banter between Cyrano and Katie from my first comic strip, Whistling In the Dark. There was a lot of B&G in those two.)

It wasn't a workout strictly speaking, but [livejournal.com profile] lythandra and I, joined later by [livejournal.com profile] sirfox and [livejournal.com profile] jamesbarrett, spent the day pretty much from 8:30 on helping [livejournal.com profile] pholph load up the truck and get on the road. ([livejournal.com profile] sirfox had been helping him until the Whee! hours of the night last night, apparently, and so understandably slept in a bit.)

We were fine in the first half of the day, emptying out the roughly garage-sized storage facility where a lot of [livejournal.com profile] pholph and [livejournal.com profile] pocket_entropy's stuff was; but then came the apartment.

Have I mentioned that Ryan and Candi lived in a third-floor apartment?

It was not pretty. The heavy boxes, even the ones marked "Frickin' Heavy!" wouldn't have been so bad -- I'm 6'2" and 300 lbs, I can tote heavy boxes 'til the cows come home. But it was climbing back up the stairs every time that done me in. *thud* Fortunately, a shower has restored me to the land of the living for tonight's billiards.

In any case, I think I've made up for the lax week, exercise-wise. ;) [livejournal.com profile] pholph is on the road now, and we'll miss him. But he's off to be with his wuv, so that's okay. :)

Where are my shoes?

Edit: SirFox uses a Tetris analogy...
