I was working on levelling a champion until a couple of weeks ago, wasn't I?

Forced myself to take some downtime and went back to that tonight. Rufaniel's now level 58 and sloshing around the waterworks of Moria.

I do periodically wish I was into WoW so I could run around w/ [livejournal.com profile] sirfox in a more-vibrant-colors sort of fantasy world, but I'm loathe to pay the subscription fee for a game I'd play in fits and spurts at best. I have a lifetime sub to LotRO, so as long as I've got internet, I'll have access to that. (At least until it shuts down, but I'm pretty sure that's a few years away still.)

I periodically consider DDO just for the Eberron-ness of it, except that from what I gather it's not very solo-friendly, and also not very Eberron-ish, which is disappointing.

Rift is now free to play, and I am not sure if they're doing the microtransaction route or not; maybe that'd be fun. It was for me when I played it.

I've been playing Rift for a couple of weeks now and I enjoy it. Bag space is at a premium, but I have some friends in a guild that hooked me up. ;)

I love my PyroElementalist mage. Hits like a truck and has a tank pet. ;)

I played from beta up to... I forget what it was called... Hammerfell, I think. When the charismatic guild lead left Rift for real life and the guild collapsed inward, I stepped away for a week or so, found I didn't miss it, and that was it.

I was kinda the same way about WoW - my guild was composed mainly of people I knew from work, and with the repetitive nature of end-game content, it was feeling more like a job than something fun.

Went back earlier this year, but let my subscription lapse when I found I had no real desire to play.

I may eventually be replacing Lotro with Elder Scrolls Online myself, but not until ESO goes live and I'll still give Lotro a continued chance so long as it stays alive, but I will admit, I go there anymore to chat with my friends and not so much to, ya know, actually play the game.

On the DDO front, I could at least show you around in that some, but yeah, most of the good stuff is group oriented.

I've heard decent things about ESO... so Skyrim graphics + MMO, essentially?

with similar gameplay and elder scroll quest designs, meaning go forth and seek adventure. It looks like it's going to be all kinds of awesome, that they are doing it right.

What we need is roguelike procedural dungeon generation. Find a random cave in the wilderness, it's the only one of its kind and seals shut after a "boss" is downed. Major story dungeons could be different though the bosses the same.

Guild Wars 2 is currently 33% off on Amazon and is reasonably solo-friendly.
