Sun, 13:06: Well, not ignored. Praise always feels good. :) But without specifics, it doesn't help me get better.
Sun, 13:07: Of course, most fans aren't English majors, y'know? So they don't have a lot of "literary critique" chops. They just know they like it.
Sun, 13:08: And really, that's perfectly cool and I love 'em to pieces for it. But a detailed and specific piece of praise or critique sinks in.

Sun, 13:09: Coming at it the other way, as a fan responding to a work, I try to keep that in mind.
Sun, 13:09: I also try not to say anything as a general comment I wouldn't be willing to say directly to the artist's face, 'cos, y'know, they're real.
Sun, 13:10: And you never know when your comments will get back to the person.
Sun, 13:11: The artist might not see my comment in context, either. It's not unusual to say 10 great things and 1 bad thing, and they only see the bad.
Sun, 13:13: Anyway. "This episode was forgettable" is hardly tearing an artist a new one. And one person's "forgettable" is another's "brilliant."
Sun, 13:15: S4 has still been quite good overall, and I'm eager for the Weird Al guest spot. :)
