Did you find the "how to write men" bit useful? It seemed kind of cringe-inducing to me. c_c

"Useful" not really. Pretty standard "Mars/Venus" stuff. Just interesting that culturally, someone found it worth talking about, even if it generated cliché answers.

Given how "men" are so often considered the cultural default, I wouldn't expect "How do I unravel the mystery of man???" to be floated as a question most of the time. And I've never really noticed a woman not writing men perfectly well, even tho I've seen men who weren't able to convincingly write women.

Yeah, it's an interesting enough concept that it got me to click, but .... mmf. It'd be funny to see a parody of the "How To Write Strong Female Characters" trope. But as a serious subject, one ought to start with "How to write [gender] of [culture] and [time period] ". And the answer is less "men are generally like this" than "the character's culture will tell him he should generally be like this, and he will respond to these expectations in various conscious and unconscious ways, and as the author you should think about those intersections. Why does he conform? Why does he rebel?"

... maybe I will write this. n_n
