What is it with people complaining about D&D 5E being boring? Is it really boring? Are we just not seeing it? Together we will go through our own experiences with 5th edition and tell you why we don’t think it’s the edition itself that’s boring, and what you can do to spice things up!

I think the one thing that I would maybe change in 5E is level progression. While the subclasses are one of the greatest things they've done with this edition, it does essentially put players on rails after level 3 or so. There are pretty much no choices once you get past level 5, unless you're willing to multiclass.

Most of the folks I game with really cherish that sense of possibility for their characters, especially when the campaign forces them to reconsider their PC's destiny or specialty. It's a lot harder to do that in 5E, so leveling up doesn't quite release that same dopamine hit it did in other games.

That being said, the fact that 5E is a lot less crunchy than Pathfinder is absofreakinglutely a feature, not a bug. :)
