Thinkin' 'bout My Comics

As the post title suggests, I'm doing some thinking about my comics. The NeverNever artist search has turned up a handful of quite talented artists, but none of them quite click right so far.

I also periodically get a bug in my ear about dusting off Whistling In the Dark to do something with it, but y'know, I'm not really sure that WITD has anything special to recommend it. Sam is a fun character, sure ... but there are so friggin' many webcomics out there, the rest of the strip has to sparkle, too ... which it doesn't.

Hmm. *think, think, ponder, ponder*

I still think that NeverNever is worth salvaging; I enjoyed it greatly and was extremely disappointed when it ground to a halt. No suggestions about artists, though.

As for the other....I think you're right about it. It's too specific, rather like a journal and it reads more like something you do for yourself rather than something you'd want to share with readers. Might want to leave that one alone unless you can find a way to make the characters resonate with readers and stand out.

From the sample of the artwork that you wanted, it seems like you desire the "Classsical Disney" artwork. Much like the stuff found in "The Sword in the Stone" back when Disney used to put a lot of attention to detail, and before they started to get anime-ified.

WITD is not SUPPOSED to be sparkly. From what I see, It's perfect as an odd little strip. In fact I'd love to pick up the torch where you left off if you'll allow it. I'll get a prelim sketch example ready for you by tomorrow afternoon.
