Groggy and head-hurty this morning ... last night's attempt to draw was marred by [livejournal.com profile] hantamouse banging some random part of his body against the table and shifting it a foot and a half to the left while I had my pen on the bristol (*sigh*), and I woke up with a headache. Think I'll swallow a dozen Advil, pump my brain up on bottled frappuccino, skip the Bowflex this morning (but I will do it either tonight or tomorrow a.m.), and get cranking on the book. I only have this weekend and next before Dragon*Con, and I've got to be finished well before then.

On another note, [livejournal.com profile] ramalion posted that the Adams' Mark Hotel in Philly is up for sale for only $35M; he recommends the furry community start a fund to buy it and fix the elevators. I say, why stop there? I think we should also move it the heck out of Philadelphia, and double its size. Then it might be good for holding a furry convention in!

Don't feel bad, I've done far worse things to that picture myself this morning, trying to fix it. I finally gave up on the idea of working with the original and have moved the whole thing to Photoshop so I can have "undo."

Life carries on! Please pardon my grouchiness.

I've enjoyed an adult beverage or three with the crew at the Double Tree, it was a block from my next-to-last .bomb.

I haven't actually stayed there or seen the conference rooms, are they blargy or ???

I did my own mini-tour of the Doubletree before FC last year...big improvement on the San Mateo Marriott in my opinion...plus the free parking was a nice touch!...MLD

Sounds like the DT get's two Llama hooves up then :)

The front "public" areas seem pretty nice, and the staff seemed pretty cool too, but having never been there for anything more complicated than a TGIF get togethers, I didn't know any of the real deal.

Tnx!

The crappy, EXPENSIVE hotel, with its crappy, CRABBY staff is one of the main reasons I've given up on Anthrocon. The place was probably quite nice in its day---but its "day" was probably about 25 years ago. That's about how old the matresses, room carpets and elevator control systems are (if not older) and I simply refuse to subject myself to such an overpriced insult again.

The hotel will probably be bought out by a family of (insert the disliked ethnic group of your choice) and turned into a Motel 5.5--- They won't spend any money actually FIXING things; they'll simply shovel the dirt (there's plenty to go around!) into the corners, immigrate a hundred or so of their "cousins" in to serve as staff---and RAISE the rates.

And like now, almost none of them will speak ENGLISH---

I found the Holiday Inn to be a nice alternative and just a short walk to the con. Their service was more than adequate to my many arcane requests (hey, can I steal two extension cords? will you bring up the heavy packages I shipped here? will you make sure this package LEAVES here?)...laundry was okay too...the free local phone calls was ALSO a nice touch since I had to live on a dialup that weekend for business...
