Hmm-hmm-hmm, just an ordinary day, think I'll lean back in my chair a little...

***SNAP!***

Hmm-hmm-hmm, just an ordinary day, think I'll break my neck...

Fortunately, my amazing cat-like reflexes[1] enabled me to, er, bang my leg on the desk, but otherwise maintain a relatively safe seated position until I could gracefully disembark.

Gonna be an interesting day. :)

[1] Unfortunately, it's an extremely clumsy cat.

Good thing for you it's just snap. This dragon tends to make a more scrunchie sound when things like that happen to him.

Ah, office chairs that break easily. That's one thing America does best! Take it from me. ;)

Yes, but do you know what "haver" means?

As in, "I'm haverin' to you?" No, actually, I don't. What does it mean?

I always assumed it meant the "technicolor yawn" or "talking to Ralph on the big white phone" as Dave Barry puts it, since in the previous verse he's talking about getting drunk.

Close on both counts. It actually means to babble and ramble on incoherently -- especially when one is drunk.

Look here -- http://english2american.com/dictionary/cat_misc.html -- about halfway down the page.

The site is also fun if you want to look about for British words/slang.

*stifles a giggle and tries to remain serious and sympathetic*

Nope, can't hold it....*rolls around for several minutes laughing*

I'm just glad you didn't really hurt yourself. I know how that feels. My first computer chair shattered from under me (the move had broken it and I didn't know it, shifted and *piff* I'm on the floor and the chair is kindling). The second chair decided to rattle loose all of its glued joints and has an interesting "drop" seat --- you sit on it and the middle plank drops out, pinching your butt unmercifully.

Okay...who invoked the lords of chaos and set them loose upon the world? Everyone seems to be having mishaps.

Laurie says I've broken these chairs before; I don't remember it, but it certainly wouldn't surprise me.

I'll say. Mishaps galore when a friend of mine was involved in a rollover accident (fortunately everyone was moderately ok, even if the Jeep took heavy HP damage) and got an internet worm as well as his LJ submitted to some LJ Flame War site, causing him to dump his LJ and make a new one. *shrug*

*looks at your LJ* Mind if I add you to my friends list?

The Surgeon General has determined that falling out of your chair can cause "Curly" disease.

Please give to Stooges Research, so we can fight this horrible affliction.
