Gifts From the Past

the_gneechEvery once in a while, I like to go back and look at my early notes on SJ as a kind of touchstone ... the strip has wandered around quite a bit since its initial conception and not always to the better.
This particular time I did that, I found some "cutting room floor" materials that I had largely forgotten about, and it was like a present from my 1999 self to my 2003 self ... two discarded storylines and a handful of one-off gags, some of which got put on "use this later" status and never got used later (new material, woohoo!), and some of which morphed into other stuff.
Yeah, baby, Saturday Grab Bag material for a month! And inspiration for some new strips, to boot!
