Not Bad, Not Bad at All :)
Dec. 18th, 2003 10:58 pmWell, I've watched Doctor Who -- Scream of the Shalka, and on the whole it's quite good. Richard Grant was a bit stiff at first, but as he warmed up to the role, he improved. Seemed quite at home in it at the end. This Van Helsing-esque Doctor is something of a change from the more flippant ones I'm used to, something of a throwback to the Pertwee era. But he still maintains the Doctor's ability to toss off a bon mot from time to time, if I'm using the expression correctly.
The new Master is quite intriguing, too ... assuming they do more, I'll be interested in learning what the story is there! Checking the BBC message boards, it seems that whatever happened between the Fox story and Shalka is a bit of a mystery to everyone. We do know that the Master got, er, consumed by the Eye of Harmony inside the TARDIS at the end of the Fox story. Since the new Master can't leave it, presumably they're linked somehow.
Tidbit: Shalka was animated by Cosgrove-Hall, famous for "DangerMouse" and "Count Duckula." I just find that very cool.
Well done! I enjoyed it. :)
