Peg's Night
Local legend says that Peg O'Nell was a servant at Waddow Hall [in Lancashire], whose mistress drowned her by witchcraft when she was crossing Bungerly Stepping Stones, near which Henry VI was betrayed in circumstances of gross treachery. After her death, she haunted the neighborhood, and every drowning or untoward happening was put down to her.--Christina Hole's English Folklore, 1940
When Peg's night came round, unless a bird, a cat, or a dog was drowned in the stream, some human was certain to fall a victim there.--William Henderson's Folk-lore of the Northern Counties of England, 1879
Feast Day of St. Maurus
As a lad, this sixth-century monk-to-be purportedly walked on water to rescue a boy from drowning in an ice-cold lake. Thereafter, his aid was sought for relief from head colds.
I dunno, walking on water isn't really all that miraculous when it's frozen.

PS: Happy birthday, Dr. King. :)
