Movies, Sketching, Open Call for Filler

Rented and watched Johnny English today, while doing some more curriculum sketches for my FC panel. It was okay, but it had all been done before, and you could see every joke coming ten minutes away. The performances were adequate, but the script didn't live up to them. The best part of the movie was a rather unusual chase sequence near the beginning involving a tow truck and a hearse, and there were some funny throwaway bits, but on the whole the movie was mediocre.

It was better than The Medallion, for whatever that's worth...

Anyway, I seem to be hitting a block in scripting, and it looks like I'm not going to have strips until I get back from FC. I'm going to put up some sketches and such, but if anybody out there would like to toss some filler my way, I'd be grateful. :) I'm leaving Thursday morning, so if I don't get anything by Wednesday night, I'll just do what I can with what I've got.

Yeah we rented that a couple of months ago. Its okay I guess but not fantastic, had potential to be more.

I liked Johnny English very much, but then I'm a sucker for Rowan Atkinson in anything. The script could have been tighter but both the dialogue and the visual gags provided me with plenty of laffs. I actually found Mr. English quite a tragic figure, dreaming of being a superspy in his shabby flat - much more moving than most of the pouting and posturing heroes we're subjected to.

I'll be back on Tuesday, so I just need one or two pieces at this stage. Problem is, I'm leaving in the early a.m. tomorrow, so I've got to put everything in place tonight.

Well, I doubt I'd be able to do anything with it in the morning -- gotta get to the airport at oh-dark-thirty. If you don't have time to work on it today, don't fret over it. Thanks anyhow! :)
