Here are some pics that Rich Chew very kindly sent me today. :)

First up, we see the challengers. Immortal Pain, Wolfpaws, and me, proudly displaying what appears to be a balloon carrot, while Siegfried adds commentary. Notice the Tiffarella shirt. Y'know, upon reflection, that balloon could be a remarkable fascimile of the rare Malaysian Tangerine Viper.

Mwahaaa! I've got a stretchy orange balloon, and I'm not afraid to use it! I think here I was bravely covering up my complete lack of a clue what to do for an art piece by clowning around with the props until something came to me. Either that or staring at Vince and wondering if he had an idea yet -- or whether I should shoot him with a balloon just to be annoying. Notice the carrot on the table, looking limp. I think there's a lesson there for all of us.

"Catching Nemo" was a towering work. By which I mean, it was very tall. Given what I had to work with, and 20 minutes to do it in, I was actually fairly pleased. My favorite bit, actually, is the orange balloons wrapped around it to make tiger stripes. I'm still surprised that it won, but hey, the audience liked it and everybody had a good time, so I'm satisfied. :)

I just have to excise the urge to take up condom balloon sculpture again :P

Date: 2004-02-05 04:55 am (UTC)I must admit, I didn't have a clue what one could do with balloons. So you certainly did better then I would have.
Personally, I was hoping for sand and food coloring this year.
Congratulations, Iron Artist Cartoon.
