Morning Thoughts...
Feb. 10th, 2004 09:36 amComment-disabled because I'm not up to a political discussion today, and lj-cut in case you don't feel like one either.
I am glad that Bush got elected instead of Gore, and I'm glad that Saddam Hussien is finally out of the picture.
However, having said that, I don't want four more years of Bush.
My current favorite is Gary Nolan and if he's on the ballot, that's who I'll vote for. Looking at things realistically, however, it's pretty clear that if isn't Bush, it'll be Kerry, so I guess I'd better start checking him out.
In the world of politics, I try to always look at the big picture; the Democrats and the Republicans are both equally bad for America, so when it comes time to vote I do so based on whichever one will do the least damage. Bush was necessary to wash away the Clinton Crud; unfortunately, Bush has some pretty misguided ideas about what constitutes a free country. Four more years of the little emperor will be read as a mandate to continue the current slouching towards a police state, and nothing good can come of that.
The big fight about gay marriage will come in the next administration, also, and even though it's not something that is likely to effect me personally, it is an issue I'd like to see come to a positive resolution -- which means keeping Bush from having anything to say about it.
And in conclusion, The Onion has it right.
