The Storyline That Wouldn't Die

Well, I wrote some more scripts this evening, all of them between Leonard and Glory. Once again, I find myself confronted with the desire for the current storyline to just friggin' eeeend already! This one was particularly badly thought-out at the beginning, and I'll be glad to be rid of it. But I've got to bring it to at least a semi-satisfactory conclusion.

Still, it's not all bad ... it's given me some things I need to resolve some other outstanding plot issues, and also hopefully to take the strip in some new directions in the future. But we're getting awfully close to the alleged marriage date of "sometime in 2004" for Comfort and her dishy cheetahboy, and I'm going to need to start moving on that soon. That also means that Comfort needs to graduate, or if she doesn't, for the wedding to get pushed back. Very realistic, perhaps, but it might not exactly endear me to my readers!

There's also the related matter of Dover, Lagston, and Megahuge Conglomaco. I have definite plans there and I've been wanting to put them into motion for a while now, but the whole Tiffany/Leonard/Glory thing was in the way.

And Byron! What ever happened with Byron?! Aaaaaaah!

*brain explodes*

Whoof, I hate it when that happens. Think I'd better go to bed and recover. G'nite, all!

I personally want to see more of Byron and maybe get a sense of Ramses' backstory. It's still march, which is too cold for weddings, especially for cheetahs. :P But that's just me. :)

Well I'm partial to Leonard and Tiffany, so I'm all for finishing that storyline first. Otherwise, I'm torn about it too. Dover's my other favorite character, so I definitely want to see more of him (he's been pretty scarce lately with the exception of the Q&A), but then again I want to know more about this Byron guy and why he's going Ramses so honked off.

Yeah, I've kind of gotten the feeling that the current storyline was being cranky. I think it happens to everyone who write serial fiction -- a story just stalls, refuses to progress, and takes forever to resolve.

Sometimes, you just gotta drive a stake through'em.

Yea, for me, just finish the storyline with Leonard and Tiffany... Everyone is happy (however that ends up being) and THEN we can go to Byron... Then in June or so we might see wedding bells?

Ya know, you're a brilliant person! I love that idea: You and TG could put together a little SJ promotional "wedding reception" room party and everything, that would be a BLAST!

A couple of fur suiters with the Right Reverend RumblePurr his furry self officiating would be awesomely fun. This could even grow to a full on fursuit skit assuming there was time to script and create the 'suits etc...

If you guys pull something like that off, I want photos [wine'ncheeze]pleeeeeeze[/wine'ncheeze] :)

Write waht comes to you, not what your readers want to see. I know you want to give them what they want and to some extent, you must in order to maintain readership but I don't think this is one of those details that would warrant that (changing Comfort into an eight tentacled eel would be something to think twice about, but the marriage scenario is realistic, especially given her tendency not to keep track of things). To me, the plots you've hinted at seem natural, resulting from other consequences already present in the story. I'm afraid that if you force it to give the readers what they think they want, you'll write yourself into another corner.

I'm anxious to see what happens with the company scenario; they've been on hold for quite a while.
