Man, I hate it when that happens. I happened upon a link to an artist who I'd heard of before but never really checked out this morning, so I thought I'd just take a look at her stuff for a few minutes.

Argh! So kyoote! And so good! And done with markers!

Argh! I'm such a hack! *sobs*

Every time I start to not hate my artwork, I get reminded of how much better so many other people's work is. Le sigh. Now I want to spend the day frantically studying and trying to glean a little of her ability, but I can't 'cause I need to make some progress on Tough Breaks.

Ugh.

Oh well, I can at least take a goofy online quiz about writing.

Character
You're a Dialogue/Character Writer!

What kind of writer are you?
brought to you by Quizilla

Yeah, I can see that.

So who was the artist?

I'd rather not say; that tends to generate comparisons that are stressful for either artist involved. I will say that she's well-known in furry circles, so I'm sure you're familiar with her work already.

I think you're beating yourself up man. Do you think a hack artist could get as much of a following on their webcomic as you have? I think not.

Well, I've been fortunate in that the writing can carry the art when it's weak. But one of the limitations of the comic strip format is that your art can only ever be so good. Of course, people like Walt Kelly drew each panel five inches tall, which meant they could fit in brilliant art.

Oka - is there some sort of trick that you can do actually FIND specific quizes on Quizilla, seeing as how their search engine is always broken ("because I suck") and there appears to be more fanfic posted there than actual quizes?

I dunno, actually, I got this quiz off of [livejournal.com profile] plonq's LJ. :)

As for Joy Division, that was a function of listening to DayGloRadio (http://daygloradio.com/). But they seem pretty good!

I figured that your Joy Division thing came from Laurie, who had some punk leanings in her dim and distant past. :-)

Yeah, I like Joy Division myself. They just seemed a bit... nihilistic... for what I remember of your tastes. :-)

Oh, and I figured out that Quizilla seems to hotlink their quizzes these days. Didn't used to - it used to be that if you saw one that you liked on someone else's page, you had to search for it yourself. I managed to link directly to that writer quiz from your own results. Huh! Who'd've known that I was FLUFFY?!? :-)

PS: Interesting. I didn't realize that you liked Joy Division. :-)

Looking over what I'm writing now, no, it isn't, but it still took me by one. I hadn't even thought of that as an option when up it pops at me. It did make me think some more. Hmmm. In that case, I should probably do.....this...with my story then. Mwahahaha! -Frisk

You know if you keep knocking you artistic ability like that I'm going to have to come down and give you some lion style correction. Sure you're not the best at what you do (you'd be getting a pay check for it if you were) but you're far from the bottom and well above the middle. Besides just look at your reaction, you're focus is on how to improve. That says you're working at it and you will improve.

BTW the quiz nailed me as a Sci-Fi writer. Is anyone surprised at that?

I haven't figured out why too much dialogue is wrong, though (Most of my stories are filled with pages of solid dialogue, hm...).
