"Oh my God," said the woman, hand over her mouth. She had just come around the corner of the hall and stared at Greg as if his ears were flapping in the breeze. "I don't believe it."

"Er, yes?" said Greg.

"You look just like my ex-boyfriend," she said. "I could have sworn you were him!"

Greg looked around, then finally said, "Oh. Um ... sorry?"

About three weeks after I started working at Marvel, the department hired a new woman whose appearance really nagged at me until I figured out why she bothered me: she resembled an ex-fiancee of mine from years before. At the end of her first day, I walked over and explained myself, "You may wonder why I've been glaring at you sporadically..."

Like Greg, she apologized.

(Happy ending; we became good friends from then until she left, two years later.)

One of my sister's friends thought I closeley resembled her ex-husband.

I've met him; he looks nothing like me, I think, and is a shallow and crude individual, to boot. (Probably why he's an ex-husband.)

Mind you, I was all of fifteen or so when she and I first met, and the ex was in his late twenties, at least.

Odd.

"My deepest apologies for resembling someone you don't like", then?

Once a girl I had a minor crush on called me by her ex's name. And we really DID look a bit alike. I was like "well, this sure ain't going to go anywhere, I see."

True story. Why are you looking at me like that, it was years ago XD
