Finally finished some minis that I've been working on for months! As the lolcats would say, let me show you them.

Miniatures painted by John Robey.
Leonard Lion and Lina Inverse battle a nazgul, while the First Doctor looks on! Er, no, waitaminute.

Let's go into a little more detail...

Arshan miniature, painted by John Robey
One of the "lion man" miniatures by Reaper, IIRC. I'll be using him as Arshan of the Desert in [livejournal.com profile] sirfox's furry D&D. Much fun character. :) Hope Josh runs more soon! I love the way the figure looms over others at the same scale.

Dr. Lucky, painted by John Robey
Dr. Lucky, from Kill Dr. Lucky by Paizo. This was actually a Christmas present for [livejournal.com profile] hantamouse's mum last year (i.e., 2006) ... and I finally finished painting it. Oops.

Mirima, painted by John Robey
Mirima, [livejournal.com profile] lythandra's fireball-tossing sorceress in my Red Hand of Doom game. The fireball in this particular instance was made from a shredded bit of cotton ball glued to the figure post-paint ... although from the cone shape it looks more like burning hands. Miniature by Reaper.

Spectre, painted by John Robey
Dedicated to [livejournal.com profile] invisiblewolf; miniature by Reaper. With my luck some joker's gonna come along and say "Hey, he's got no pants!"

Ruins of Middle Earth, painted by John Robey
Scenery from the "Ruins of Middle-earth" set by Citadel. Some of the ivy is strategically-placed to cover seams, other bits are just randomly placed. I was pleased with the "weathered stone" effect, some of which is lost in this photo.

Whatcha think? :)

Ooh! Very nice indeed. Haven't painted miniatures in ages (since school...and even then, I was rubbish)

Love the use of cotton-wool for the fireball :D
(and the lion is just fab)

Thanks! :) FWIW, I was rubbish in school too. I just kept going. ;)

Sweet! Reminds me of the old days, when you and Lythandra had a mini for every mood... a situation that seems to have only expanded since then!

It hasn't actually expanded as much as all that ... over time prepainted plastics have largely replaced the Cardboard Heroes, but the overall effect is roughly the same. :) I ain't got the time to paint minis the way I used to, alas!

Wow...I really like the Nazgul miniature; they did a good job with him. And the musculature on the lion miniature looks great, too!

Thanks for sharing! :-)

I thought you'd like that. :) Reaper has a handful of figures based on the same "nobody in it" concept, but this one is my favorite of the lot.

I've never heard of Reaper miniatures. But the lion-man guy is good! I should look into them

They have UK distribution ... not sure about Australia. But you can probably get them through resellers downundah.

I have some Warhammer trees for just such a purpose. :) Plus I've scoured their website for tips, tricks, and techniques. Helpful stuff!

Nice,very nice.
I was never able to get into painting miniatures for whatever reason (time mostly I guess) but I do love seeing what people are able to do with them. Oh and the textures on the stone walls did come out very well indeed.

Thanks! :) And given that it took me however many months to paint these, I totally hear you re: time. :)

I wondered if you'd comment on that. ;) Anybody who attacks his delts or forearms is in for a lot of trouble!

Gotta wonder why he bothers w/ the breastplate, considering it covers little more than his clavicle. It's like a steel dickey. 0.o I suspect the idea may be that he scavenged bits and pieces off of his normal (human-sized) foes, and that was all that would fit.

Which, actually, suits Arshan's character well! :D

Heh, I didn't think of that. There COULD be some logic there, eh?

But never underestimate the power of It Just Looks Cool, Dammit XD

Hey, if it's good enough for chainmail bikini babes, surely it's good enough for Arshan!

Very cool. One of these days I'm going to have to get around to finishing my Flames of War army (maybe the first of many). Someday.
