The Nerve's Dead, Jim

For all the horror stories, the root canal was actually fine. The worst part was actually the fact that there was a TV playing "People's Court" in the dentistry room. This was the first part, the actual drilling; there are two follow-up bits, which are the permanent filling and the crown, respectively. I also have another tooth due to go through all of the above shortly thereafter.
Let this be a lesson to you, kiddies — don't wait 8 years between dentist visits. :P Only diligence at brushing and flossing has enabled me to still have teeth at all. :P
Unfortunately, I'm back on antibiotics again because the one tooth was so far gone that part of the nerve had actually died. Since the whole process of a root canal is designed to go in and remove the nerve, that wasn't inherently a problem, but it does mean I have to be super-careful to make sure it doesn't get infected between now and then.
I'm sure you're all just pleased as punch to read about it, too. ;) At least it's my mouth we're talking about here!
