I gotta admit, I'm bouncing around in my seat at the prospect of actually being a player again for a change, 4E or no 4E. I ran out last night and bought a miniature, which I then doctored to match the character and hope to have painted by playtime Saturday.

However, Ilthadris needs a better name. That one, while appropriately elf-lordish, doesn't really roll off the tongue. But I'll come up with something.

PS: Leaning towards "Arcangalad," which translates roughly to "Royal Light of Bravery" in Sindarin. Other possibilities are Naithalion ("Strong Spear-Point"), Echthalion ("Strong Spear"), and Astaldavor ("Valiant Woodpecker" of all the strange things).

You could always go with Celanthas or Alasthaniel...

How about going for a more appropriate name for a pointy eared elf?

SPOCK!

Your suggestion is eminently logical.

As a Citadel miniatures collector of many years, I'm really very disappointed with the quality of the official D&D miniatures. Do you use them? or minis from other games doctored to look in theme?

I went looking to see if I could find a mini to fit with my 4E Deva Sorcerer, but alas, nothing out there was right for the feel I wanted.

I use whatever works. For metals, I mostly use Reaper or Citadel, and in fact the new miniature is a doctored one of these:

("Haldir's Elves with Swords" from the Citadel LotR line. He's been doctored to replace the sword with a spear — no easy feat! — and had a shield slung over his back.)

When my group plays D&D and whatnot, we generally hunt down models to use from the hundreds and hundreds, over a thousand certainly if you count all the gobbos, of citadel minis which are littered around the guy's house where we play. Its amazing how often you can find something that makes you go "ah-HAH! This is my character!"

It also means that when we have a bar brawl or something, the innocent villagers are likely to be played by lizardmen, and the bad guys by SMurfs.

Definitely Astaldavor. When are you next going to get an opportunity to claim to be a Valiant Woodpecker?

Actually, I think I'm going to save that title for Maedhroc.
